BOONE, N.C. – April 7, 2017 – FACING DARKNESS—the gripping, award-winning documentary of the Samaritan’s Purse organization’s race to rescue two of its medical workers stricken with Ebola—took in $1.2 million at the box office for its March 30 one-night, nationwide screening through Fathom Events.

The event’s performance moved producers to set an encore presentation for Monday, April 10, at 7 p.m. local time.

The encore event, also one night, includes exclusive behind-the-scenes details from Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham and Ebola survivor Dr. Kent Brantly about the life-and-death struggle of Ebola in Liberia.

FACING DARKNESS inspires us to choose faith over fear as we see God at work, and we’re moved by the response,” Graham said. “This encore presentation on April 10 is another chance for people to experience the miracle and to bring others to see it.”

FACING DARKNESS—produced by Samaritan’s Purse; Executive Producer is Franklin Graham—  recently won Best Documentary at the Christian Worldview Film Festival.

As the Ebola pandemic swept across West Africa in the spring of 2014, Samaritan’s Purse stepped up to provide comfort, compassion and care to the hurting people of Liberia . . . all in the Name of Jesus. When the deadly virus infected two of the organization’s team members—Brantly and Nancy Writebol—the crisis truly hit home for Samaritan’s Purse and its leader Franklin Graham. FACING DARKNESS tells the incredible true story of how—with faith, skill, determination and prayer—the organization worked around-the-clock to bring Brantly and Writebol home, all the while praying for a miracle.

FACING DARKNESS is directed by Arthur Rasco.
