Pastor Ed shares the radical generosity of the CBC community to benefit those on the frontlines of the pandemic.

On April 4, Lead Pastor of Community Bible Church, Dr. Ed Newton, invited his church to be a part of an Easter offering to the city, under the campaign of “CBC Shares”. With the vision of blessing frontline medical personnel, first responders, and partner organizations in the local community, the ambitious challenge was laid before the congregation to join together in raising one million in donations, where every dollar would be sent outside the four walls of the church.

How would they do this you ask? For every dollar amount donated, CBC committed to match the final donation amount not once, but twice. Congregant contributions would go towards the purchase of gift cards through participating restaurant partners in efforts to bolster the local economy and provide encouragement to San Antonio’s frontlines in health and safety. Then, the first match made by CBC would cover the cost of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure first responders and those in the medical field can continue to be everyday heroes. The second match would bless over 30 local ministry partners on the frontlines of provisions throughout the city, seeking to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the marginalized. “This was an endeavor bigger than ourselves” says Pastor Ed, “and our people demonstrated radical generosity!”

CBC is now embarking on Phase Two of “CBC Shares” in collaboration with Threads of Love to sew and distribute masks across the city. Discover more about “CBC Shares” by visiting communitybible.com
